Page

A Sandvox website is made up of pages. A site consists of a number of individual pages. The Site Outline displays the pages that make up the site.

Page Types

Sandvox 1.6 ships with 11 different page types (12 in Sandvox Pro):

Rich Text
The most commonly used type of page. Consists of a block of text and any images or callouts you add.
Photo
A single large photo with an optional caption.
Amazon List
A product, or list of products, from amazon.com.
Contact Form
A form allowing site visitors to easily contact you while protecting your e-mail address.
External Page
Add an external web-page to your site.
File Download
Provides downloadable content such as a zip file.
List of Links
Provides a list of links to external webpages.
RSS Feed
Displays external RSS feeds.
Site Map
Useful for large or complex sites to let your visitors find the page they want.
Video
Holds an audio/visual piece of content (e.g. video, music) and optional caption.
YouTube
Displays a video from YouTube.
Raw HTML Page
Only available in Sandvox Pro. Allows you to create a page with completely custom content.

To expand on the basic page types, experienced Cocoa Developers can use the "Sandvox Developers Guide" to create custom page types.

To rename a page:

  1. Select it in the Site Outline.
  2. Open the Page Inspector.
  3. Use the "Page Title" box to set the Page Title.

Additionally, all the usual clipboard commands (cut, copy and paste) can be used with Sandvox pages.

Page Elements

To provide continuity throughout your site, all pages feature common elements:

Site Title
The title of your site. Found at the top of every page.
Site Subtitle
A small blurb just below the Site Title that describes the site.
Logo
An image placed at the top of every page, next to the Site Title. Normally your company or organization's logo.
Site Menu
A menu of links to other pages within the site. Has room for only a few pages, so use the Page Inspector to add or remove pages.
Page Title
The title of the page. Displayed at the top of the main content area, and in the Site Menu if appropriate.
Sidebar
An area to the left or right side of the page that contains a number of pagelets.
Main content area
Where the main content of the page is displayed. Its content depends upon the page type.
Footer
A bar at the bottom of every page. Often used to display copyright or contact information.

Editing Pages

To edit a page, you use the Page Inspector. There are some general page attributes that can be set for all types of page, and other properties that depend on the type of page.
