Positioning an embedded image
To move an embedded image:
- Click the image to select it. It is highlighted in color.
- Drag the image to a new location within the text.
This sets where the image is placed in the text. You can then also set the position of the embedded image (how text flows around it):
| Image Position | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| On a line by itself | The image is given its own line | ![]() |
| Alongside text | The image floats to the side of the text | ![]() |
| Inline with text | The image is treated as if it is part of the text (best for small images) | ![]() |
To set the position of an embedded image:
- Click the image to select it. It is highlighted in color.
- Open the Selection Inspector.
- Select a position from the "Position" radio buttons.
The side of the page to which an embedded image is aligned depends upon the design the site uses. However, if the image is to appear in a paragraph by itself, you can set the text alignment to control this.
To set how an embedded image is aligned:
- Ensure the image is on its own separate paragraph:
- Click the image to select it. It is highlighted in color.
- Press the right or left arrow key to place the cursor in between the surrounding text and the image.
- Press the Return key.
- Click the image to select it. It is highlighted in color.
- Open the Selection Inspector.
- Set the embedded image position to "Inline with text."
- From the "Format → Alignment" menu select your desired alignment for the image.
